T jak TUVA

"There's a scene in David Malouf's An Imaginary Life where Ovid, in exile in Tomis (now the Romanian city of Constanza), on the banks of the River Ister (now the Danube), set in a burial ground where dead horses are set on poles with dead warriors on top of them. It's all lowering grey skies, mist, soughing wind through the mummified remains, and is utterly primitive, sacred, and otherworldy. Spooky, oh yes, hairs on the back of my neck spooky. "
